Torbay is situated on the northern end of the East Coast Bays of Auckland. It is a very popular area for new immigrants to settle. This is due to the high number of safe beaches in this area, local shops, regional parks, high decile schools and close to public transport to easily get in and out of Auckland city centre. Our cottage is situated right on one of the most popular East Coast Bay Beaches safe for young children but offering opportunities for older children and adults with the Torbay sailing club and boat ramp for easy fishing and boating.

The Bosun's Locker offers you a home away from home. We provide a welcome hamper on arrival of breakfast supplies, including home baking to have with your tea/coffee to help recover from your long journey. All linen is provided including beach towels. There is internet access and a phone for free local calls. The cottage has a veranda to sit and soak up the sun while the garden has a swing and large trampoline for children to run around and play in a safe environment. A great location to stay while you look to find your new home.

We are right on the local beach which has a brand new play ground. There is a large regional park 20 mins walk away. Local shops are also only a short walk away for paper, petrol, milk and takeaways. Browns Bay is the larger local shopping area with banks, supermarkets, library, restaurants, gyms, tennis, squash, rugby club and sports centre. There are also lots of clubs in the area covering all areas of interest from art and craft to martial arts.

Albany Westfield Shopping centre is a 5 minute drive away. Here there is a cinema complex and one of the newest and largest shopping malls in New Zealand. It is also home to a large Sports Stadium that hosts soccer and rugby games, along with live concerts.

Schooling is of a high standard in and around Torbay. There are three primary schools all in close walking distance from the cottage. All schools in the area are decile 10. We are on the bus route for the local Northcross Intermediate School, Long Bay College and Rangitoto College. For schools and Universities further away there is a very adequate bus service at the end of the street that will link up with Takapuna, Massey University and Auckland city.

There are shuttle buses and taxis that can collect and drop you off at the airport. There are local car hire companies and local real estate agents in and around Browns Bay. This can help with easy settling into the local area without having to travel into Auckland city centre.

Clive has lived in the area since the early sixties, both our children have grown up here and attended the local schools. I have emigrated from Yorkshire in the UK and feel Torbay is now my home.
